Monday Check In

Monday Check In: 5-18-20

Another new week! Can you feel it in the air? I am not referring to the cooler weather that is expected today; rather, I am referring to the seasons. People are thinking about new routines and healthy habits as summer winds down. I’ve always said, September is just as busy as January for gyms. It’s an opportunity to start something new or form a new routine. Keep these things in mind if you want to start going to the gym this fall. The initial workouts ought to be simple. You need to build momentum, not push it too hard (people who push hard in the beginning always quit for the next shiny thing)

More is more. The exercise window of sixty minutes is arbitrary. Time will not determine how much your body can handle. It’s okay if your first workout lasts between 30 and 40 minutes. Identity and mindset. My favorite takeaway from James Clear’s Atomic Habits is that if you want something done, you have to see yourself as it. It’s not “I’m going to start working out,” it’s “I workout now.”
